Generally speaking, many web design companies follow a similar process to transform the ideas in your head into fully functioning websites. We wanted to share the nitty gritty details of every step in our creative process so you know exactly what to expect when collaborating with us to achieve your web design goals.
We like to kick off the creative process by getting to know your business and by exploring goals and expectations for your project. In this initial meeting, we’ll discuss:
Arriving to the consultation with a good understanding of your target audience will give us insight into the mindset of your future website visitors. It will also allow us to tailor the layout and format it to their preferences. This goes hand-in-hand with getting a grasp on the purpose of your website; the structural design will be optimized to match your objectives. Project budget is also an important detail to discuss upfront. We don’t want to design a site that you can’t afford.
Additionally, this meeting will serve as an opportunity for us to offer advice on how to create a website with the functionality and features that make the most sense with your project goals.
If you’re just looking for some hard numbers to bring back to your board after this initial consultation, we can supply you with a bid. Once you’re ready to move forward with the project, we would provide a more comprehensive and easy to understand proposal outlining the specific details of the project.
At this point, we want to be as clear and upfront with you as possible to ensure we’re on the same page regarding all the costs and specifics of the website. After all, we don’t want to waste time by continuing with the project if we don’t have happy campers on board!
Progressing to steps 4 through 9 is contingent upon how you feel after reviewing the proposal. Once all of your questions have been answered and you have a feel for the services we’re offering, we will ask you to make a decision as to whether or not MayeCreate is the right fit to design a website for your company or organization.
Whatever you decide, know that you’re not going to hurt our feelings; we’ll give you that energetic high-five either way.
If you do decide you’re ready to get your pride on with the MayeCreate team at your side, the next step in our process is to hold a creative meeting. We’ll review websites you like to gain creative inspiration and discuss your font, color, and layout preferences.
At this time we’ll also set up a task calendar outlining the detailed steps we’ll take you through along with when items will be due and who is responsible for completing each task.
The next part of the process involves our designers creating a few potential designs for the home page of the site, establishing a general look and feel. Shortly after we deliver the options to you we’ll review them together and agree on how to incorporate your feedback into the final design. We ask that you be as critical and honest with us about all of your likes and dislikes, especially at this point but also throughout the entire project as well. By engaging in this type of open communication we can ensure that you’ll receive the quality website your company or organization deserves.
With approval of your website template and proposed organization, it’s time to set sail with content development. Depending on what we discussed in the proposal, content creation was either assigned to your team or ours. If you chose to create your website content yourself, you must have your text for the pages and any graphics or pictures for the site ready at this time for us to place into the individual web pages. If it was decided that we’re providing the content development services, we’ll go ahead and incorporate the content into the design at this time.
By the time we reach step 6, all design decisions have been finalized and the ball is in our court. Our designers will be hard at work building the site as planned. If we need clarification or final approval on functionality, we’ll get in contact with you.

We’re starting the 10 second countdown to launch time! In a final meeting, we’ll review the website by looking over everything and make any final tweaks you deem necessary. Only small corrections or functionality adjustments should need to be made at this point.
Let’s launch it! If everything looks good, we will take your site live for all of the world to access! 3…2…1…BLAST OFF!
We offer website support for 30 days after your website has launched. After that time frame you can contact us when you need updates or choose to have a more comprehensive maintenance agreement.
