Hi, my name is Jacob Dulany and I’m the new Marketing Intern here at MayeCreate Design!
At this time, I am in my last semester of my senior year at the University of Missouri, where I am pursuing a degree in marketing. Marketing is an area that fascinates me because it plays such an important role in facilitating the interactions between business and people. I was drawn to this position here at MayeCreate to learn about the digital side of the industry, and to gain valuable experience in the field.
Though it has only been one month, I feel like I have already learned a lot. From the basics of SEO to understanding the fundamentals of project management, it’s been an interesting and enlightening first few weeks.
If I’m not in the MayeCreate office (or in class), you’ll likely find me working with Job Point, a local non-profit service organization in Columbia. I started there last summer (again as a marketing intern) and I really enjoyed my time. I was inspired by Job Point’s mission to promote the abilities of individuals seeking employment through innovative training, education and business partnerships, so I continued-on part time.
As an employment consultant I get to assist adults with disabilities in finding and retaining meaningful employment. I even get to go out in the community and perform on-the-job coaching for the people we serve. I find this work to be very meaningful and I’m glad I get to be a part of it.
Outside of work and school I keep busier still. I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend, Ashley, who I met six years ago in high school. Ashley attends the University’s Occupational Therapy program, so we have had the fortune of attending college together. I also enjoy many hobbies, including going outdoors, collecting records, and playing instruments. My passion for music started when I got my first guitar at the age of 11. Since then I’ve picked up a few other instruments, like the drums, synthesizers, mandolin, and even the didgeridoo. I enjoy making music with friends and even playing out when the opportunity comes along.
Some albums that I’ve been enjoying lately are:
So that’s a little bit (or a-lot-a-bit) about me. I look forward to the opportunity to utilize the knowledge I’m gaining in the real-world of digital marketing, and to work with the awesome team at MayeCreate Design. Thanks for reading!
