Mississippi Asphalt Pavement Association New Website

The End of the Road for their Old Site

The Mississippi Asphalt Pavement Association, Inc is a statewide organization dedicated to enriching the state asphalt industry through promotional programs and helpful information resources. As a supporting body for such a large industry (covering such a large region), it’s essential for MAPA to be present online with a quality website capable of serving all of its members. But, like so many old roads, MAPA’s old site had become worn and difficult to navigate. They needed a new website that could:

  • Be easily updated for added functionality in the future.
  • Display real-time content through social media feeds.
  • Send automated emails to members with monthly letting reports.
  • Promote events and training sessions that allow visitors to register easily.

What MAPA needed was a sustainable new site built on a strong foundation, one that could grow as they grow. They came to MayeCreate Design to get the job done. If you didn’t already know, we love working with paving companies and associations:

Okay, we love working with paving companies and associations, and really love writing punny “pave the way” titles. More importantly, we specialize in building flexible websites that can be continuously updated for future needs. As such, we were excited to PAVE THE WAY to MAPA’s new online headquarters.

Mississippi’s Asphalt Advocate

The Mississippi Asphalt Pavement Association serves to improve the state of Mississippi’s pavement industry, both within the public and private sectors. The goals of the organization is to provide educational opportunities, to uphold industry standards for practice, to educate the public and to advocate for sustainable asphalt mix research. MAPA provides valuable resources, and promotes events and classes based around topics like uniform operations, sustainability, safety, legislation, and the universally beneficial promotion of asphalt as a product.

Showcasing a Successful Organization

At first blush, websites and roadways may seem pretty different, but MAPA and MayeCreate both share common underlying goals in all of our work: longevity, quality and sustainability.

We wanted to build a website that would last MAPA for years — a site that won’t become outdated, but rather one that supports easy updates as the organization grows and evolves. For the site’s foundation, we opted for a dynamic WordPress format that would allow for this high level of flexibility.

Pages like Events and Schools and Seminars can be updated with ease to keep members in the loop about the extensive array of MAPA programs. Attendees can sign up and pay (both by card or check) for these training sessions without ever having to leave the site. The Contracts and Bidding page can be updated to share details about ongoing contracts throughout the state, as well as reports on fuel and materials used. These reports are automatically generated and sent to MAPA’s mailing list with each site update through the magic of an RSS Email Feed

Automation = Super Cool/Super Efficient

MAPA understand that most people are moving towards social media for their day-to-day communication. To stay in touch with their members, MAPA is active on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. Links to their social pages can be found on both the header and the footer of the site. The Home page features and embedded Twitter feed that displays MAPA’s activity in real time, helping to repurpose this content and bring even more relevant information to site visitors.

As an association, MAPA is an organization made possible by the contributions and cooperation of its members. Site visitors are able to attain membership through — you guessed it — the Membership page. Here viewers are encouraged to join and can educate themselves on the different levels available through customized drop down boxes, and even submit applications and payment for association online.

Some other cool features of this site include:

  • Mailing List Sign-Up
To give MAPA another point of contact with their audience, the footer includes a mailing list sign up form. With only a name and email address, users can opt in to receive updates from the organization, and they can sign up from any page on the site.
  • Affiliate Slider
MAPA values their partnerships, so they display their affiliates on their membership page. Viewers can scroll through associated businesses by way of the left and right arrows.
  • Custom WordPress Theme
With Custom WordPress Themes, the website design is unique and the structure is flexible, scalable, and easily manageable. Let’s just say websites with custom WordPress themes aren’t forced to reside inside the box.
  • Safe Site Plan
The new MAPA  website is enrolled in our Company Safe Site Plan, meaning we’ve enhanced the site in an effort to offensively protect it from hackers. We backup the site daily, maintain regular WordPress and plugin updates, and monitor site activity and link function.
  • Updates & Ongoing Maintenance
It’s imperative to keep content fresh with regular updates to keep clients and prospects interested. With their website completed, we help MAPA stay on top of its game by performing requested updates and changes to the website as requested.

With the road to online success now fully paved, the Mississippi Asphalt Pavement Association can continue to support the improvement of Mississippi’s public and private infrastructure. Down the road, as MAPA grows, their website can be updated and adapted to their organizational needs, helping them deliver a more sustainable future for Mississippi and their members.
