Missouri SMP: A Powerful, New Website for Empowering Seniors

In Need of a Website that Performs…

Missouri Senior Medical Patrol is a program that serves to educate and protect medicare beneficiaries. Their mission: to empower Missourians to prevent, detect, and report healthcare fraud, errors and abuse through outreach, counseling and education. A laudable goal, to be sure, but with such a lofty mandate comes a ton of work — and specifically a ton of information that needs to be disseminated to a wide ranging and diverse audience. While informative, their old website was hard to navigate, hard to update and hard to read (hardly ideal for any senior). Worse still, the old website wasn’t reaching a key demographic: the children of medicare beneficiaries — who tend to be a bit more internet-savvy… Missouri SMP needed to:

• Speak to individuals and healthcare providers simultaneously.
• Enable team members to share resources and add documents.
• Function without relying on their data management system.
• Share monthly facts about healthcare fraud.

MayeCreate Design loves creating inclusive, ADA compliant solutions and believes that Missouri SMP performs an important service for our community, so we worked to create a website that performs well for them!

Protecting Missourians Since 1997

For more than two decades Missouri SMP has been providing senior citizens with the tools and resources to navigate both Medicare and Medicaid. Elderly beneficiaries are far more likely to be victim to healthcare fraud, so the SMP program provides one-on-one counseling, healthcare plan advice and educational programs for plan-holders. They also provide a confidential hotline by which SMP representatives can address fraudulent behavior and provide information to beneficiaries.

Missouri’s SMP is just one of the initial 12 state programs. Today there is a program for all 50 states, the major U.S. territories, and Washington D.C. These programs function largely by the efforts of volunteers. Across the nation, over 35,000 volunteers have helped the SMP Program educate and serve 63 million individuals. Talk about communities that care!

A Brand New Look for Missouri SMP

Missouri SMP’s previous website was a bit… outdated, with navigation that didn’t make the most… sense. We gave them a new online face with a site that looks great, while also being highly accessible. We know that many senior citizens will have younger, tech-savvy individuals help them when dealing with healthcare. We wanted a visually stimulating website, with modern touches to speak to this group. At the same time, we know that many seniors will be accessing the site as well, so we presented content in a streamlined manner. We made the site easy to navigate, readable and we made sure that the relevant resources were only a click away!

• Mobile Friendly Design – Adaptive Template
  Websites that are built with mobile-friendly with adaptive templates will be served more often on search engines to people using their mobile devices.

• Custom WordPress Theme
  With Custom WordPress Themes, the website design is unique and the structure is flexible, scalable, and easily manageable. Let’s just say websites with custom WordPress themes aren’t forced to reside inside the box.

• Safe Site Plan
  The new Missouri SMP website is enrolled in our Company Safe Site Plan, meaning we’ve enhanced the site in an effort to offensively protect it from hackers. We backup the site daily, maintain regular WordPress and plugin updates, and monitor site activity and link function.

• Updates & Ongoing Maintenance
  It’s imperative to keep content fresh with regular updates to keep clients and prospects interested. With their website completed, we keep Missouri SMP on top of their game by performing required updates and changes to the website as requested.

• Informational Quiz/Game
  The informational game, “Are you Smarter than a Scam Artist?”, can be found on the homepage. It delivers information on common scams and preventative measures in a fun and engaging manner.

  Missouri SMP provides a number of easy-to-find resources, including videos, downloadable literature, and even puzzles.
