Website Updates & Ongoing Management

Your to-do list called. Your website updates want a word.

Your website needs updates, but updating websites isn’t your job.

Lucky for you, it’s literally ours.

You know the drill. Add new staff member, update services page, fix that weird thing happening with the contact form. Somehow “quick website updates” turned into a three-hour rabbit hole of Googling WordPress tutorials. We’re here to handle the updates so you can focus on the work that actually pays the bills.

TIME OUT

Are You Actually a MayeCreate Client?

Here’s the deal: If you’re not a MayeCreate client, you need to give us a call first. If we didn’t build your site and it’s not built in WordPress, there’s a high likelihood we won’t update it. But you can always ask – we’ve worked in darn near every website platform over the past couple decades and there are exceptions to every rule.

Give us a shout and we’ll figure out if we can help you.

What We Actually Update

(Because You Probably Want to Know)

We consider most things an update. Simple text changes, major overhauls, or something completely random you dreamed up – we can usually make it happen.

  • Content updates (text, images, new pages)
  • Staff additions/changes
  • Service descriptions and pricing
  • Photo galleries and testimonials
  • Contact information and hours
  • New functionality
  • Form modifications
  • Third-party integrations
  • ADA compliance updates and monitoring

What’s NOT included here: Security updates, backups, and software maintenance – that’s all handled under our Safe Site program. We can do it for you as a one off update but most people get it done regularly so they don’t get hacked.

Emergency Updates

Something weird happening with your site?

We’ll figure it out and fix it. Depending on what’s wrong, it might be covered under Safe Site Plus, or it might be a billable update. We’ll let you know. Either way – you need to contact us ASAP! The sooner you let us know the easier it will be to fix.

Went rogue and blew up your site?

We’ve seen it all – sites that look like they exploded, sites that mysteriously vanished, and sites that developed a personality disorder after someone “just wanted to try something.” We can usually resurrect your pre-disaster site, but if you caused the problem and it needs attention right now, fair warning, we might charge emergency rates.

OR better yet, if you’re panicking, CALL US! We have humans who answer the phone: 573-447-1836.

Requesting Updates 101

Share the pages that need updating and tell us what needs to change:

Don’t forget your images! Please don’t attach a billion photos to one email – they won’t all make it through and sadness will ensue. If you have lots of images, call us and we’ll send you a link to your Google Drive folder.

How the Process Works

Icon 1

Send Us an Email

Email your updates to info@mayecreate.com (or your dedicated project manager if you have one)

Icon 2

We Confirm Within One Business Day

If we don’t reply within one working day, we probably didn’t get your email and we get super bummed when that happens. So if you don’t get a quick reply, call us at 573-447-1836 and we’ll sort it out.

We Give You a Timeline

We’ll let you know when to expect your updates to be completed.

Bigger Updates Get Estimates First

If we think your updates will take more than 2 hours, we’ll send an estimate for approval before starting work.

AGAIN, if we didn’t design your website, contact us for a consultation before sending revisions. We don’t want you to waste your time.

Quick updates (text changes, adding a staff member, updating contact info): Usually completed within a few business days.

Larger updates (new functionality, major page overhauls, shopping cart additions): These need planning and get scheduled based on availability. We’re talking multiple weeks for complex projects.

Retainer clients get priority scheduling – their work gets turned around faster because we’re all planning ahead.

Pricing That Makes Sense

  • Updates are billed at our normal hourly rate
  • Retainer clients get a discount
  • Minimum billing: 30 minutes (even if it takes 5 minutes)
  • Estimates required: Any project we think will take 2+ hours
  • No surprises: You approve estimates before we start bigger work

Retainer Options (For the Organized Humans)

We’ve got retainer options, but they’re not one-size-fits-all. If it’s easier for you to budget monthly or keeps you from letting website updates slide into the ether, we’re all for it.

Retainer perks:

  • Priority scheduling (faster turnaround)
  • Monthly budget that covers your regular updates
  • Custom planning based on what you actually update

If this lights you up, give us a shout, we’ll talk about what you update regularly and set a monthly budget and process that gets those things done without a ton of back-and-forth.

All MayeCreate sites come with Google Analytics and Google Search Console installed. We create custom reports so you can review your site’s performance without having to log into Analytics yourself. We send you a monthly email to keep you accountable and give it a look.

Annual reviews (included with Safe Site): We review your site’s performance and give suggestions for improvement, complete with estimates to implement changes. We consider annual reviews a privilege not a right. So if you choose to ignore our suggestions for years, don’t be surprised when we choose to stop sending them.

Quarterly deep dives (additional service): We can review everything from SEO keywords to individual page performance. This can be managed through a retainer if you need regular insights.

Plugin Management & Licensing

For Safe Site clients: Plugin updates are handled automatically as part of your plan. If you have premium plugins we don’t have developer licenses for, we’ll renew them annually, bill you for the license, and keep them updated as new versions are released.

Not on Safe Site? Plugin updates are handled as regular updates at our hourly rate. When plugins age out: We’ll let you know when a plugin is no longer supported and provide alternatives, plus estimates for retrofitting your site with the replacement.

Want to add new features to your site?

Adding functionality through plugins is handled as a large site update. So if you want to start selling things on your site or add a membership section, we’ll let you know the best way to handle it and get you an estimate and a timeline to make it happen.

Third-Party Tools & Integrations

Third-party tools and integrations are usually not a small update. They involve a conversation and some research to implement correctly. Most of the time we can make them happen, but we’ll be transparent about the most effective approach – and that doesn’t always involve us.

What We Don’t Do

We’re pretty flexible, but there are a few things that aren’t our wheelhouse. Better to be upfront about it now than surprise you later.

SEO Monitoring

We’ll catch opportunities during annual reviews and handle updates as one-time projects, but we don’t offer monthly SEO monitoring or PR services.

Update just any old website.

If your site isn’t in WordPress there’s a high likelihood we won’t update it. And even if it is built in WordPress we still might not be the right folks to update it. But you can always ask – we’ve worked in just about everything over the past couple decades.

We also don’t dabble in online ads, social media or force ongoing services on people who don’t want them…other than hosting because well, what good is a website that no one can see?

Delegate those website to-dos.

Since website updates aren’t your job…let’s keep it that way. Let us know when you need us – whether that’s every week or twice a year.
