WordPress Training

Your monitor is just an innocent bystander.

Simple website updates shouldn’t require a computer science degree or a stress ball collection. If you can work your email, then odds are with a bit of training, you can transform from a monitor-throwing maniac into a self-cleaning oven in no time.

SAVE YOUR MONITOR – BECOME AN OVEN

At MayeCreate, we love our self-sufficient, solve-a-problem-on-their-own humans. We call them ‘self-cleaning ovens’. It’s high praise. Really.

Here’s the thing: A lot of web designers protect their job security by making websites darn near impossible to update. We gain job security from building websites that ACTUALLY work. Because that makes our clients keep coming back instead of firing us.

We actually want you to use your website. Revolutionary concept, right? Maybe it’s because 4 of our 10 staff members have degrees in education and started their careers teaching – some adults about technology, others wrangling high schoolers and elementary kids. If you can manage a classroom of teenagers, teaching website updates is basically a vacation.

Together, we’re banishing confusing dashboards, mysterious buttons that might accidentally delete everything, and the need to call your nephew who “knows computers.”

That’s why we never leave you high and dry with your new website. You need to know how to run it and run it right.  Training saves you time and money, reduces frustration, keeps your site secure, and protects your investment – because a website you can’t use is just expensive digital art.

It means no more waiting around for someone else to make simple updates. No more expensive emergency fixes from clicking the wrong button. And no more wasting hours trying to figure out why something isn’t working.

A MayeCreate trained self-cleaning oven can:

  • Keep your ADA compliance intact while making updates
  • Access online training materials so you can learn or remind yourself whenever you need to
  • Learn the difference between “I got this” and “I should probably call the professionals”
  • Keep your site safe and speedy with smart maintenance habits
  • Update pages and posts confidently without breaking anything
  • Add videos, PDFs, images, links and the whole ball of wax like a pro
  • Avoid costly mistakes that require emergency fixes
  • Save hours by learning the shortcuts that actually work

How We Power the Oven Transformation

One-on-One Training

Not everyone needs personal training – some people are happy with our video library and figuring things out as they go. But if you want hands-on training, we’ll sit down with you before your site goes live to teach you how everything works. Ok, not literally everything. That would be a reeeeeaally long training. But everything you need to know to keep your website updated.

We record the training so you have it to refer back to when you get stuck and we’re not around to field your questions. Plus, we’ll customize the training to focus on what you’ll actually use – because teaching you features you’ll never touch is a waste of everyone’s time.

YouMayeCreate Training Hub & Resources

All MayeCreate clients have access to our comprehensive online training platform. We’ve built full course modules for deep dives into website management, plus bite-sized videos for quick answers to common questions. Think of it as your 24/7 training department.

We created this platform because the same questions kept coming up and our love of efficiency refused to allow us to explain how to add a new page the 847th time. So we built a structured online learning system. Now you can learn at 2am in your pajamas without having to admit you forgot how to do something we showed you last month.

ADA Compliant Update Training

Building an ADA compliant site is just the beginning. And the government says, if you’re updating it, it’s up to you to keep it that way.

Our YouMayeCreate Training Hub includes a module dedicated to maintaining ADA compliance. It covers everything from formatting content so it works for screen readers to creating compliant PDFs (because yes, that’s a thing), adding proper alt text to images, and choosing colors and fonts that work for everyone.

Because having a site that everyone can use isn’t just the law, it’s the right thing to do. We’re here to help you cut through the techno talk so you can keep it that way.

Ongoing Support

We’re not going to just abandon you in your newly found website independence. We are on call if you run into trouble or need an update. Think of it more like a loving parent sending their kid off to college. We won’t come do your laundry, but we’ll answer the phone when you call to ask for a reminder on how to do it.

And if you’re really stuck, we can just update the website for you. We won’t even judge you for it. We will even give you an estimate before we do it so you’re not surprised by an invoice.  Need help right now? Contact us.

TRAINING & SUPPORT FAQ

People worry about what “support and training” means (and costs). Here are the ones we hear the most – and if yours isn’t here, just call us:

Nope. You can email or call, and if we have a quick answer, we’ll get it to you without charge. You always have access to the video library to find answers on your own. Don’t be offended when we send you a link from that exact library explaining your answer!

If you need more support than just a quick answer – like another training session or a developer to look at the site – we’ll let you know what that would cost and you can decide before we start any work.

You get a real person who knows your project. You’ll work with the same Project Manager who managed your website build – potentially forever if we can help it. That’s not to say we won’t pull a designer or developer in to help troubleshoot if we need them though!

Yes, through our Safe Site program. There are varying levels of support:

  • Basic: Software and plugin updates, backups, link checking
  • Premium: Everything above plus theme upgrades and advanced monitoring

Retainer: Monthly hours with a web team on call for whatever you need

If you’re enrolled in our Safe Site plan, we handle all of that weekly (sometimes more often if needed). If you’re not enrolled, that’s all on you.

We monitor for issues across all the sites we manage, but if your site isn’t loading correctly or you’re getting tons of emails about failed login attempts, contact us IMMEDIATELY. We can escalate and give your situation immediate attention when you let us know something’s wrong.

Depends on your plan and the urgency. Quick questions usually get answered the same or next day. Emergency situations (site down, security issues) get more immediate attention. Non-urgent requests might take a day or two, but we’ll let you know when to expect an answer.

First off, breathe. It happens to everyone. Second, call us. We’ve seen every possible way to accidentally break a website, and we can usually fix it faster than you can panic about it.

We actually build in checkpoints to catch these things. We do a pre-launch review to make sure everything’s dialed in before your site goes live, plus a comprehensive 3-month review once we have real user data to work with.

Here’s the thing – the magic happens when you’re actively involved during the build process. The clients who get the best results are the ones who speak up during development when we ask for feedback.

We do include 30 days of support for tweaks and minor changes that may come up once you see everything in action. Bigger changes or new ideas? We’ll talk through options and costs so there are no surprises.

During our 3-month internal review of your site, we fix little items if we find them and give you feedback on improvements based on how people are actually using your site. And because the web changes pretty fast – we let you know if there’s a better way to handle something so you’re in the know.

Plus, here’s the beauty of keeping your site up to date: You can add and change things as your business grows. New service? Different pricing? Your site evolves with you instead of becoming outdated the moment your business shifts.

Absolutely. Some people want to learn, others just want it handled. Both approaches work – we’re not going to force independence on someone who’d rather delegate. Tell us what you prefer and we’ll make it happen. Learn more about updates and on-going maintenance.

Ready to take control of your website?

Our clients range from dangerously independent to actually enjoying the process of updating their site. Weird, right?

Become a self-cleaning oven.

We are proud to have them as our digital media partner!

MayeCreate Design has been a terrific partner in our CoMoGives campaign from the start. They have helped us manage many technological challenges, make it easy for over one hundred nonprofit organizations to participate and thousands of people to make easy online donations during the campaign. Some things we have asked of MayeCreate have not been easy to accomplish, but they’ve found a way each time. We are proud to have them as our digital media partner!

  • Let’s make a page that’s creative and fun.

We’ve had previous websites where I felt like it was just one standard design and all the pages look the same. It was pretty basic and didn’t really communicate as well as it could have. Then when we started working with MayeCreate. They really took the time to think about, “Okay, what do you do as an organization? Let’s make a page that’s creative and fun and gets the point across for that.”

  • MayeCreate really helped walk us through our brand.

MayeCreate really helped walk us through our brand to figure out what that was. We had a name and a great tagline back then, but that was all. Monica really walked us through that whole process, including choosing branding colors, fonts, and even some of the language we needed to explain some of our programs. She helped us create a brand new site and from those first meetings we created our whole branding manual.
