With the almost overwhelming number of ways you can promote yourself through social media marketing, I find it’s best to start simple by going through each of your business’s social media accounts and taking full advantage of the built-in (and free) features that come with it. Here, I’m specifically talking about the Facebook page call-to-action button.

I encourage anyone with a Facebook page to use this button. It gives your page visitors instant access to do more with you or learn more about you, you don’t have to pay for it, and it makes you look more legit. Plus, there are a lot of button options available that can help promote just about any kind of business or organization, from nonprofits and small businesses to hotels and online shops.

You can use these page buttons to invite your page visitors to:

  • Learn more about your business
    • “Learn More”
    • “Watch Video”
  • Shop with you
    • “Shop Now”
    • “See Offers”
  • Download your app or play your game
    • “Use App”
    • “Play Game”
  • Book with you
    • “Book Now”
  • Contact you
    • “Contact Us”
    • “Send Message”
    • “Send Email”
    • “Call Now”
    • WhatsApp

Alright, let’s do the darn thing, shall we?

How to Update Your Facebook Call-to-Action Button

1. Hop on out to Facebook and login with your page administrator account.

2. Scroll over your Facebook page’s call-to-action button and click the “Edit” button in the drop-down menu that appears.

Scroll over your Facebook page’s call-to-action button and click the “Edit” button in the drop-down menu that appears.

3. Open another tab in your browser and launch your website, or a specific URL you’d like to use for the button link.

4. Copy this URL from the top. (Ctrl + C, or you can right click and select Copy.)

5. Jump back over to Facebook and select the type of button you’d like to use on the Step 1 pop-up window.

6. Click Next to go to Step 2, then select “Website Link” from the list of options for where you want to send people.

7. Paste your URL (Ctrl + V, or right click and select Paste) into the “Add a website link” field that appears.

8. Click “Save.”

9. Click “Finish.”

That’s it! Time to test!

It’s uber important to test your button because you’ve got to be sure you’re actually taking people to the right spot. How dumb would you look if you sent them to some 404 error? Credibility is key in these early stages of prospect nurturing, know what I mean?

So head back out to your Facebook page and view your page as a page visitor.

Say what?! You can do that??

Yes, you can do that! Click on the 3-dot button under your cover image, then select “View as Page Visitor.” Now you can see your page the way your visitors see it. WHOA.

Go ahead and click on your updated Facebook button to ensure it’s working the way you want it to.

You’re ready to roll! If the link worked, that is… If not, get back in there and make it right. Then you’re set. 😉
